The town on the island has a laid-back vibe and the island’s waters are relatively shallow and calm. Jost Van Dyke, BVI Island- Jost Van Dyke is a tiny island but it packs a lot of excitement into a small space. There are villa rentals as well seaside cottages, fabulous restaurants and annual events that keep visitors coming again and again. There are water sports and hiking trails for daytime adventure and romantic starlit skies at night.
Voted Best Watering Hole by visitors, be sure to swim to the unique Soggy Dollars Bar. That’s right… swim up. Since there is no dock, the only way to get there is to swim ashore. Guests then pay with wet dollars, hence the name. Dollar bills are hung on a clothes line above the bar, drying in the breeze. The house specialty is the “Painkiller” and it’s one of the most popular mixed rum drinks in the West Indies that managed to make the owner Daphne Henderson famous.
