Tips for Choosing A Wedding Dress to Carry You Through the Reception

Wedding gowns are often heavy and uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time. The fabrics are not breathable, and they are often laden with bead work that weighs a ton. Here are some things to consider when picking a wedding dress you'll love all night long.

I have literally heard the words, "just cut it off me" and "do whatever you have to do" when a bustle keeps coming undone or the gown simply becomes too much and wreaks havoc on my bride’s comfort level as the night wears on. So, if you're thinking that you're going to want to wear this type of gown while romping around town barhopping, think again.

Choose wisely. Many gowns are designed to be made lighter and airier. A much better choice if you want to be able to keep going until the wee hours of the morning, dress intact.

Separates are all over the runways and a gown of this kind would allow you to wear the top and switch out the bottom for the barhopping portion of the night. Or, discuss with a knowledgeable seamstress the possibility of making parts of the dress detachable from the onset.

If you decide to brave the odds and endure the gown in its original form, pair it with some comfy shoes and throw any uncomfortable undergarments out the window and rock the dress until you can't rock it no more.
