How to Pay Fair Prices When Planning a Wedding
Your planner is going to be your best resource for keeping you within budget. Planners have access to venues and vendors galore and know exactly what the price ranges are for each category. They will immediately know if you are overpaying or if you are getting good value for your wedding dollars. They offer valuable tricks of the trade and know how to negotiate a fair price. The long term relationships they have with both vendors and venues allow you to not only insure that you won't get ripped off, but also allows you to reap the benefits of receiving extra value for the exact same dollars spent. If you don't want to get ripped off, find a reliable and experienced planner that knows his or her way around the wedding market to insure that you stay protected.
Do your due diligence and educate yourself on the going rates. While it is mostly true that you get what you pay for, sometimes a vendor charges more than the going rate, which does not automatically mean that they are better. Research the vendor, looking at both the quality of their product or service and take into account the experience others have had before you, in working with them. Does their brand match their price tag or is it a mismatch? Have they been doing this a long time or are they wet behind the ears? use these questions when deciding whether or not to try and negotiate fair prices. If their experience level and the quality of what they offer seems inferior to their price tag, continue your comparison to see if indeed they are charging a fair price. If, on the other hand, the price tag matches with their experience and talent, you will know that you are not getting ripped off.
